Old Port

Chelsea + Steven | Married

I met with Chelsea and Steven during one of the first storms we had this winter. In just a few short months they would be getting married in a small and perfectly intimate ceremony; all within a brick and wood beamed loft overlooking St. Paul street.

A stones throw away is where we found a quiet street to gather the bridal party in, it's not every corner of Old Montreal we can find peace and quiet, but we managed. Chelsea was adamant about finding somewhere much more private to take photos with Steven. The Quai de l'Horloge offered us that, I would often walk ahead or scout the location, noticing that they were taking those brief quiet moments to themselves which every couple should try to find on their wedding day.

The two of them have been together for over a decade; you can imagine how anticipated this day was for them and their closest people.

Congratulations, and thank you Chelsea + Steven for having me take part!

Special thanks to John Koo who helped me out!

Carrie + Rob | Eloped

It was the smallest wedding I photographed this season, and one of my absolute favourites.

I booked Carrie and Rob's elopement at the Nelligan hotel in Montreal a few months ago without meeting them. They live in Toronto, and I'm told they wanted an event just for themselves, in a city that wasn't their own, followed by 3 weeks in Italy. I love weddings of all sizes, but I bet a lot of you would choose to do the same!

I arrived outside their suite to meet Carrie and grab a few shots in the room. Carrie handed me a glass of champagne so she had someone to cheers with (thank you for that)! We talked a bit so I could get to know her and off we went to the ceremony downstairs where Rob was waiting.

As the only person present, other than Michel the Officiant, I signed as their witness. This was exciting as I've never done that before, after 10 years of photographing weddings! Documents required that two witnesses be present, so the couple invited another witness from the hotel.

To be present for a ceremony condensed to only 2 people is beyond incredible. The only thing I can compare it to is witnessing an engagement. Emotions are so very real. The ceremony wasn't a show for a crowd of people, not to say wedding ceremonies aren't real, this was simply as real as it gets. Wow.

I'm so thrilled to have been a part of that moment in my own small way. Thank you C+R for having me and congratulations!

Leanne + Taymaz | Married

You may remember Leanne + Taymaz won last year's engagement shoot during my winter contest, I was so thrilled that they were exactly as lovely all of their family and friends had said they were (everyone who had entered their names). I was even happier to photograph their wedding day - at the stunning la Gare Viger; a huge effort by so many talented wedding vendors.

It was not what I would call a normal day, with Hurricane Harvey having reached us bringing buckets of rain. But it's as I tell all of my brides and grooms in the event of a wet day, there are always options; beautiful photography can be born in low light which we may not have used otherwise. The main thing is to remember why you're all there. If rain bothered L+T, I did not notice it even for a second. The venue did not disappoint, the place was decked floor to ceiling in gorgeousness.

I saw moving moments between their friends and family that only a wedding can bring out in people. It was a pleasure to be present for it! Thank you endlessly L+T for a beautiful day!

Special thanks to Bianca Diorio for the help shooting with me!
