Carrie + Rob | Eloped

It was the smallest wedding I photographed this season, and one of my absolute favourites.

I booked Carrie and Rob's elopement at the Nelligan hotel in Montreal a few months ago without meeting them. They live in Toronto, and I'm told they wanted an event just for themselves, in a city that wasn't their own, followed by 3 weeks in Italy. I love weddings of all sizes, but I bet a lot of you would choose to do the same!

I arrived outside their suite to meet Carrie and grab a few shots in the room. Carrie handed me a glass of champagne so she had someone to cheers with (thank you for that)! We talked a bit so I could get to know her and off we went to the ceremony downstairs where Rob was waiting.

As the only person present, other than Michel the Officiant, I signed as their witness. This was exciting as I've never done that before, after 10 years of photographing weddings! Documents required that two witnesses be present, so the couple invited another witness from the hotel.

To be present for a ceremony condensed to only 2 people is beyond incredible. The only thing I can compare it to is witnessing an engagement. Emotions are so very real. The ceremony wasn't a show for a crowd of people, not to say wedding ceremonies aren't real, this was simply as real as it gets. Wow.

I'm so thrilled to have been a part of that moment in my own small way. Thank you C+R for having me and congratulations!

Vanessa + Matthew | Married

It's a joy and a thrill to share this gorgeous Old Port Steakhouse wedding with the world today, featuring an amazing couple whom I adored becoming friends with throughout the process!

I've said it before but I'm not able to get over it, Vanessa is a movie star isn't she? A beautiful girl in and out. Matthew was nothing but charming, and looked at Vanessa like she was the only woman in the room. I hear they've been together a long time, how lucky are those to have met at a young time in their lives.

The Old Port Steakhouse made for a perfect backdrop! Such an elegant and timeless building. There was an awesome team behind the day. As always, Astilbe blows my mind with their floral arrangements, this bouquet is to die for. I was happy to meet and work with Entertainment Stars, who as you can see got everyone on their feet throughout the entire reception and having the best time.

Thank you endlessly V+M!

I wish you so many happy years and exciting chapters together, I hope I get to see more of them as the years roll by!

Julia + Michael: Married

It's exciting back in the editing room when so many guests gave great real moment reactions throughout the course of the day. Julia & Michael are surrounded by some great people in their close circle; it's no wonder why they attract them either because they're both kind and exceptionally lovely human beings. I hope everyone I work with is as much as they are.

Being one of my last weddings of 2016 we struggled with maybe one aspect - how short the days are in October! As much as we plan in advance, weddings have a tendency to move at a pace of their own (as they should when everyone is having fun) but this left us with approximately 15 minutes for the bride and groom creatives (which I like to allot an hour for). Luckily, being as cool as they are, and their guests for allowing me to borrow them, we took full advantage of the sunset. It was worth it, folks! I always thank guests at times like these for being cool - have fun, enjoy your cocktails and mingles; these photos are lasting the couple a lifetime.

Another day full of colour, love, dancing and tears, a simply beautiful way to end my 2016 season!

Thank you J+M and congratulations to you both!
