It was the smallest wedding I photographed this season, and one of my absolute favourites.
I booked Carrie and Rob's elopement at the Nelligan hotel in Montreal a few months ago without meeting them. They live in Toronto, and I'm told they wanted an event just for themselves, in a city that wasn't their own, followed by 3 weeks in Italy. I love weddings of all sizes, but I bet a lot of you would choose to do the same!
I arrived outside their suite to meet Carrie and grab a few shots in the room. Carrie handed me a glass of champagne so she had someone to cheers with (thank you for that)! We talked a bit so I could get to know her and off we went to the ceremony downstairs where Rob was waiting.
As the only person present, other than Michel the Officiant, I signed as their witness. This was exciting as I've never done that before, after 10 years of photographing weddings! Documents required that two witnesses be present, so the couple invited another witness from the hotel.
To be present for a ceremony condensed to only 2 people is beyond incredible. The only thing I can compare it to is witnessing an engagement. Emotions are so very real. The ceremony wasn't a show for a crowd of people, not to say wedding ceremonies aren't real, this was simply as real as it gets. Wow.
I'm so thrilled to have been a part of that moment in my own small way. Thank you C+R for having me and congratulations!
