Wondering where I've been? I've been planning a wedding!
My brother got hitched this past weekend and it's been very cool to play another role in the wedding industry for a while. I was able to step into the shoes of my wedding planner friends. I love them... but I won't be doing this again any time soon! The amount of work is endless (at least it felt that way). I'll gladly go back to photographing. I've learned to respect event planners. But with all this said, the pay off was worth every panicked moment.
If you're planning a wedding and your most used tool for inspiration is Pinterest, then you've heard of the Naked Cake. Normally, this homemade style cake is still ordered from the pros. This naked cake was not. My mom decided to give it a try and I think it turned out amazing. I would still rely on the pros if you can, but wow.
Nicola and David were on a small budget. Being parents of a 10 month old and David finishing up his doctorate, the budget was actually none existent. With myself in the wedding industry and my mom an artist, we found ways to recreate inspiring (expensive) wedding decor on the cheap. Though I arranged for another photographer on the day-of, I had always planned on grabbing some of the details myself. I couldn't resist. My blood, sweat and tears did go into them (figuratively speaking).
